Tim McGeachy grew up in the Bay Area and San Francisco, where his early years were shaped by one of the most vibrant and consequential communities in American history. As a young man still finding his way, he bought film from Harvey Milk at Milk's camera shop in the Castro, a memory that carries particular meaning given the journey that lay ahead.
Tim went on to earn his MA in Social Psychology and Organizational Development from NYU, then built a career rooted in service and human connection. He practiced as a clinical social worker in mental health at UC Davis Medical School in Sacramento, later becoming an HR Director for Sutter Health. Throughout his Sacramento years, Tim was deeply woven into the fabric of community life. He sang with and served as volunteer coordinator for the Sacramento Gay Men's Chorus, edited the newsletter for the Sacramento LGBT Center, and found his spiritual home at Unity in Sacramento.
It was in Sacramento that Tim met his partner Owen in 2010. At retirement the two of them headed north to Portland, Oregon before the pandemic brought them to St. George, where they have planted roots in the red rock desert they now call home.
Tim has been part of Centers for Spiritual Living St. George since arriving, and serves on the Core Council as our Community Events Coordinator, making sure our community stays connected, engaged, and out in the world together. His passions have always pointed in the same direction: hiking in the Sierras, theater, singing, and showing up in service. That last one led him to Switchpoint in St. George, where he began volunteering and was hired part time in September 2025.
