We are spiritual, not religious.

Have you ever had the feeling that there is more to life than what you've been taught? That the universe is somehow for you — not indifferent, not punishing, but genuinely supportive of your growth, your healing, and your joy? Science of Mind begins exactly there.

Science of Mind was founded by Dr. Ernest Holmes in the early twentieth century as part of the New Thought spiritual tradition — a positive, practical, and deeply hopeful approach to spirituality. What makes it unique is where it draws its wisdom from. Rather than claiming a single exclusive truth, Science of Mind is a beautiful synthesis of the ages — weaving together the great revelations of both Eastern and Western spiritual traditions, the timeless insights of philosophy, the observable laws of science, and the understanding of human nature that psychology offers us.

In other words, it doesn't ask you to abandon your intellect or ignore what you already know to be true. It invites all of it — your questions, your experiences, your hunger for meaning — and meets you there.

At its heart, Science of Mind is the study of consciousness, of the relationship between your inner world and your outer experience. It teaches that there is one infinite Intelligence underlying all of life, and that each of us is an expression of that Intelligence. This is not just a comforting idea. It is a practical truth that can be demonstrated in everyday life.

Science of Mind teaches that:

  • Fear and superstition have no power over you. When you understand universal spiritual principles, you are free to live with confidence, clarity, and trust.
  • The Universe is for you, not against you. Life is not happening to you, it is responding to you, and you have more influence over your experience than you may have ever been told.
  • Joy and freedom are your natural state, not something to be earned through suffering, but something to be returned to through understanding.
  • Spiritual truth can be demonstrated. These are not just beautiful ideas, they are principles you can apply, test, and experience in your own life, in real and meaningful ways.

What sets Science of Mind apart from many spiritual traditions is that it is not simply something you believe — it is something you live. It is a daily practice of shifting your thinking, expanding your awareness, and aligning yourself with the good that is already present and available to you.

It is a path focused on joy. On freedom from fear. On the deeply satisfying experience of watching your life transform as your understanding grows.

And perhaps most beautifully of all — it is a path that has room for everyone. No matter your background, your doubts, or where you are starting from, Science of Mind meets you exactly where you are and walks forward with you.

The best way to understand Science of Mind is to experience it. We invite you to join us for a Sunday service — in person here in St. George or online from wherever you are — and feel for yourself what this teaching can open up in your life. If you are ready to go even further, our classes and workshops offer a wonderful opportunity to explore these principles in a more personal and interactive setting, where real transformation has a chance to take root and grow. You are also warmly welcome to reach out to Reverend Joe or one of our Spiritual Coaches with any questions you may have.

This teaching has changed lives. It may just change yours.

Everything we teach leads to one thing: ARISE!

Awareness, Radical Responsibility, Inside Out Living, Spirit is All There Is, Everyone Evolving. Science of Mind is the map. ARISE is how you walk it.

Meet Ernest Holmes

Ernest Holmes (1887 to 1960) was an American spiritual teacher, author, and founder of a spiritual movement based on the idea that the mind, rightly directed, is the key to health, happiness, and the fulfillment of human potential.

His landmark work, The Science of Mind (1926), brought together insights from ancient philosophy, modern psychology, quantum physics, and the world's great spiritual traditions into one cohesive, practical teaching. Holmes did not establish a traditional religion. He developed a practical spiritual philosophy that invites every person to discover their divine nature and apply spiritual principles in daily life.

Science of Mind Teaching Symbol

THE CIRCLE contains three sections, or a "trinity" of Life.

THE TOP SECTION IS SPIRIT, meaning the impulsion of Love and the Desire to Create. It can also be understood as the Creator, or First Cause. This is the seed of thought, belief or intention.

THE CENTER SECTION IS LAW OF CAUSE AND EFFECT (SOUL), meaning the orderly process through which the Will of God (the impulsion of Love) becomes manifested or created. This is the soil into which the seed is planted.

THE LOWEST SECTION IS BODY, meaning the physical, created universe which is understood to be the actual manifestation (incarnation) of Spirit in Form. This is the growing plant which is the result of the seed being planted.

THE “V” SYMBOLIZES THE CREATIVE PROCESS ITSELF, reminding us that any impulsion or cause, (be it a thought, intention or belief,) moves through Law and becomes part of the physical. For every form, experience or effect there is a cause whether consciously planted or not.

Core Principles

God Is All There Is
We teach that there is one universal Intelligence, infinite, omnipresent, and good, that is the source and substance of all life. We call this God, Spirit, Life, Love, or whatever name resonates most deeply with you.

You Are an Expression of the Divine
Every person is a unique, irreplaceable individualization of God. There is no separation between you and the Divine, only the appearance of it in your thinking.

Thought Creates Experience
The mind is the creative instrument through which infinite Intelligence expresses itself in our lives. What we believe, we experience. This is not wishful thinking, it is the law of cause and effect applied to consciousness.

Prayer Is Affirmative
We practice Spiritual Mind Treatment, a form of affirmative prayer that doesn't beg for change but declares the spiritual truth of a situation. This is the cornerstone of our healing work.

All Life Is Sacred
Every human being, every living thing, is sacred. There is no "other" in our theology, only the One expressing in infinite variety.

We Are Always Growing
Life is not a problem to be solved, it is a gift to be lived fully. We teach that spiritual growth is continuous, joyful, and available to everyone at every stage of life.
What Is Spiritual Mind Treatment?

Spiritual Mind Treatment, also called Affirmative Prayer, is the signature spiritual practice of Science of Mind. Unlike petitionary prayer, Treatment does not ask God to intervene. It begins from the premise that God is already present, already whole, already working. A Treatment shifts the practitioner's  consciousness to align with this truth, and in that alignment, healing, clarity, and transformation become possible.

Our Licensed Spiritual Practitioners are trained in this practice and available to pray with you for any need or desire.
